FEATURED ARTIST - Ellen Crane Photography

July 13 - August 31, 2026

After living in New York for 35 years, Ellen Crane moved to Fort Atkinson, WI to care for her mother in her childhood home. She has embraced the change. Crane is recognized for her motion studies of dancers which reflect decades of work with dance companies and schools after working as a dancer herself. Crane’s dance photos have appeared in publications including, Dance Magazine, and The New York Times. She has also been in exhibits at Lincoln Center in New York City. A few years ago, Crane helped curate an exhibition at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, which established the country’s first college dance major, the degree her mother received in the 1950’s.

My work has always explored the passage of time, with my subjects and camera either moving quickly or hardly at all.” -Ellen Crane
